About Students at English Language Matters Ltd

Where Each Student Matters

The general and academic school has a student population of 30 to 50, depending on the time of year. At any one time there are generally 5 or more different nationalities including Japanese, Korean, Swiss, French Polynesian (Tahiti and Noumea), Saudi Arabian, Chinese, German, South American, Taiwanese, Thai and a variety of other nationalities.

Students are encouraged to learn about each other's cultures and make friends with students from other countries. In fact we have developed a specialised course in Cultural Studies for international students to learn to appreciate and understand the New Zealand culture as well as the cultures of their classmates. In class activities, students are often paired with someone of another nationality and many long lasting friendships are made.
